Keren Garcia Rodriguez
violinist, Emanuel Duo
With over a decade of experience on both national and international stages, my work focuses on expanding the narrative boundaries of music. Trained at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Madrid and specializing in composition for the performing arts in New York, I have dedicated my career to creating sonic universes that breathe with every actor and scene. Notable projects such as 'Shadows of the Stage' and my ongoing collaboration with Duo Emanuel have consolidated a style where technical sophistication meets emotional honesty. Each score is a commitment to excellence and an invitation to experience theater from the soul.
Short Biography
Victor Garcia Pelegrin is a Cuban pianist and composer whose artistic journey began at the age of seven. Early in his studies, he developed a strong creative curiosity, improvising and writing short piano works while training at the Amadeo Roldán Conservatory in Havana. This early foundation led him to composition studies under Professor Juan Piñera, where he began shaping his voice through the exploration of piano-centered works. During this period, he received recognition such as the Musicalia Prize for Best Piano Composition in 2007 at the University of the Arts in Havana, and the Harold Gramatges Composition Prize UNEAC 2010, in Cuba.
As a composer, Garcia draws inspiration from the rhythmic and melodic traditions of Cuban music, seamlessly blending them with contemporary classical aesthetics. This fusion also incorporates elements of both American and Russian musical heritage. His work spans solo, chamber, and larger ensemble formats, exploring the piano as both a performing and creative platform.
Garcia Pelegrin, along with his wife, violinist Keren Garcia, co-founded Duo Emanuel. This ensemble serves as a platform to promote his music, as well as contemporary, Cuban, and universal repertoire. His music has been performed in various venues and festivals in Cuba, the US, the Netherlands, and Chile.
Pelegrin completed his master’s studies at Baylor University, where he studied composition with Dr. Scott McAllister and explored electronic music with Dr. Ben Johansen. His recent work includes compositions for symphonic band and his first piano concerto, reflecting an expanding orchestral language.
Alongside his work as a composer and pianist, he is active as a teacher and collaborative pianist, valuing pedagogy as an essential part of his artistic life. He is currently pursuing advanced studies with a focus on composition, performance, and interdisciplinary collaboration, intending to contribute to contemporary classical music while remaining rooted in his Cuban musical heritage. Glorifying God is an integral part of Victor’s artistic purpose and work. He widely shares the transcendental vision of the heart of Christianity, Soli Deo Gloria.
